No family doctor in the Comox Valley? See our settlement practitioners for help registering for the B.C. Health Connect waitlist

If you do not have a family doctor, you are not the only one.

Thousands of people who live in the Comox Valley do not have a family doctor. Now, there is a way to place yourself and your family members on a waitlist and help the province have a better understanding of the need in the region.

If you live in Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, the Comox Valley Regional District, Denman Island, or Hornby Island, you can register yourself through the Health Connect Registry – Comox Valley.

Once registered, you will be contacted by the Comox Valley Administrator when a primary care provider (family doctor) is available.

If you have complex care needs (the registry prioritizes those with significant health issues) or if you need assistance signing up, you can contact the Immigrant Welcome Centre’s Courtenay office to schedule time with a settlement practitioner. They would be happy to help you sign up for the Comox Valley registry! Give us a call at 250-338-6359 to make an in-person appointment.

Our practitioners can also share information with you about Courtenay’s walk-in clinics and other local health care services.

We hope this information helps you access the health care you need.
