Worth Rereading: Thriving Together Series

On July 1, B.C. moved to Step 3 of its Restart Plan. It is now easier to believe that our pandemic worries will one day be over. It’s also important that we don’t forget about our collective and individual experiences.

Many residents spent much of the past 16 months isolated, apart from their loved ones, and had mental health issues amplified. The Welcoming Communities Coalition decided to share the stories of immigrants in Campbell River and the Comox Valley to help all of us better understand how newcomers experienced the pandemic and learn what we can do to make our communities more welcoming, especially when days are dark.

If you missed our Thriving Together Series (first published in May, June, and July 2020) or want to revisit the stories, here is another opportunity to read and learn from them one year later.

Thriving Together 1: Reconnecting with Friends and Family, as told by Uyanga Amgalan

Thriving Together 2: Repatriation Experience due to COVID-19, as told by Salve Libunao

Thriving Together 3: Racial Discrimination due to COVID-19, as told by an immigrant from South Korea

Thriving Together 4: Difficulty Connecting to the Community due to COVID-19, as told by Tony Kwon

Thriving Together 5: Getting Creative During the COVID-19 Pandemic, as told by Daito Mitsumiya
