Community Kudos: Volunteer Campbell River

The Welcoming Communities Coalition partners with organizations and people in the community who are committed to growing diversity and equal opportunities in Campbell River and the Comox Valley. This is our monthly Community Kudos post on our blog where we recognize a member’s recent accomplishment or amazing thing they are doing in the community to make it more welcoming.

Annual resource & volunteer fair returns!

,

Volunteer Campbell River pours its heart into bringing people and projects together through volunteerism and community engagement. They offer numerous services and programs, but there is one long-running event we wanted to share with you today: the 11th annual L.I.F.T. Festival!

L.I.F.T. (Leadership, Innovation, Friendship, Talent) is a community resource and volunteer fair that this year is taking place on September 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s an opportunity for members of the public to meet organizations, learn about ways to get involved in the community, and contribute to causes and issues that matter to them.

This year’s event will be in-person (all provincial health orders will be adhered to) at the Sportsplex in Campbell River. Admission is free.

As of late August, there were already more than 20 organizations registered for the event – including the Immigrant Welcome Centre!

Participants include a range of groups such as the Museum at Campbell River, Habitat for Humanity, North Island Metis Association, Greenways Land Trust, KidStart, Campbell River Art Gallery, Campbell River & North Island Transition Society, and more. Each will have representatives available to share their programs with the attendees and talk about ways to get involved.

Follow Volunteer Campbell River on Facebook – they’ll share more details soon, and you’ll also see posts about local organizations in need of volunteers.
