IWC Coalition coordinator attends regional conference

On October 13 and 14, delegates from Local Immigration Partnerships throughout the province (including Julie Keumbehdjian with IWC’s Welcoming Communities Coalition) met at the Civic Hotel in Surrey, B.C. to exchange knowledge, build relationships, and discover opportunities for collaboration and developing partnerships.

Many great connections were made along with renewed commitments to leverage our combined knowledge and experience to support the work we do in our communities.  BC and Yukon Local Immigration Partnerships (BCY LIPs) contribute to the important work of settling newcomers to the region by engaging diverse partners from their communities to work in areas of research, information sharing, partnership building, service coordination and strategic planning.

BCY LIPs and their council members lead work on plans which address housing, employment, language, anti-racism, mental wellness, diversity and inclusion, and truth and reconciliation.  Thank you to the Surrey LIP for hosting this event.
