IWC receives the Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award

On February 7, 2022, Katie Crocker, the CEO of AMSSA (Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC), visited the IWC office in Campbell River to hand the Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award.

Riasat Ali Khan was a leader in diversity and inclusion and former AMSSA President. For forty years he worked to help immigrants integrate into Canadian society and support diversity.

Created in his honour, the Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award recognizes an AMSSA member for their excellence in programming and strengthening diversity in BC.

Candidates to receive the award are rated in the following areas:

  • Collaboration: worked collaboratively with community partners
  • Leadership: demonstrated leadership and vision in the promotion of diversity; championed teamwork and collaboration and inspired others to effect positive change
  • Innovation: created, developed/supported, and implemented an innovative program/project in the area of settlement, integration, multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion that demonstrated excellence
  • Impact: Made a significant contribution in the area of integration and diversity that demonstrated success and a positive outcome in the community.

This is the second time that IWC receives this award – the first time was in 2014.
