The Welcoming Communities Coalition wants to hear from you!

The Welcoming Communities Coalition has planned a series of Listening Posts in Campbell River and the Comox Valley this year.

The Listening Posts will be opportunities for the public to talk to the Coalition about how to make our communities more welcoming to newcomers, and to learn about the Coalition’s work. The Coalition will set up in variety of community spaces in the coming months and listen to residents about how we can make our community more supportive and inclusive of people of all backgrounds and cultures.

We will post our Listening Post events here and to our Events Calendar as they are scheduled:

  • Listening Post #1: Booth at The 2022 Campbell River Children’s Health Fair
    • Friday April 8th, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free event for families with children ages 0-6 at the Robron Centre, 740 Robron Road.
  • Listening Post #2: Table at the Comox Centre Mall
    • Thursday April 14, 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. inside the mall at 215 Port Augusta St.
  • Listening Post #3: Table at the 2nd Annual Community Listening Event in Comox
    • Saturday, May 29, 1 to 4 p.m. at Filberg Heritage Park (61 Filberg Rd.)

Come discuss with us: What are some ways we as a community can welcome newcomers? How can we show kindness and friendship? How can we improve our own understanding of other people’s cultures? If you are a newcomer, what are some of the ways people made you feel welcome, or what things would have helped you to feel welcome when you first arrived?

See you soon!
