A Success Story from the North Island

My name is Violeta. A year and a half ago, my family and I moved to Canada under the CUAET program due to the war in Ukraine. We settled in the small town of Port McNeil. Starting life anew in Canada meant learning English, adapting to a new culture, and understanding everything, which was quite different for us.
As time passed, and I became more settled, I started thinking about continuing my education. I had left my previous university in Ukraine and wanted to pursue studies in Canada. Many Canadians informed me that studying in Canada is expensive and not affordable for everyone.
Our English proficiency was low, so we sought help from the ICBC center for various matters such as buying a car, getting insurance, taking English courses, finding a job, managing my studies, and submitting T4 forms. IWC Outreach Worker, Stephen McNeill assisted us with all these challenges. He identified a program for Ukrainians that allowed me to pay for two years of study at BCIT with a 50% discount. Thanks to him, I enrolled in the Business Manager program.
I want to highlight Stephen McNeil’s excellent work, his attentive client approach, quality service, and quick resolution of all issues. Now, I live in Vancouver and am enjoying student life at BCIT, all thanks to him. I am grateful for everything you did for me.
Thank you!
