POSITION TITLE: International Family Recreation Program Assistant

 REPORTS TO (Supervisor / Program): CR International Family Recreation Program Coordinator

TIME COMMITMENT: Minimum 6 month commitment is preferred, 3-6 hours a month. Program runs from September to June. The position requires an individual who can commit to attending one or two sessions a month. Typically, sessions are held on the Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00pm on the 2nd or 3rd week of the month. This may be subject to change dependent on monthly activity.

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Program Assistant assists the Coordinator with set up and managing the food table, attendance, clean up and other duties as required.

 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in set up and manage food (snacks) table .
  • Assist with welcoming and checking in attendees (ensure all attendees are checked in on the attendance sheet).
  • Build connections with the families and provide assistance during the session as needed.
  • Assist in the clean up at the end of the session.

 REQUIRED

  • Personable and able to develop positive rapport with individuals while maintaining a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (provided by the Immigrant Welcome Centre at no charge to the volunteer).
  • Must have a valid BC Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Enjoys working with families
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, and open-minded.
  • A team player.

This position description is meant to be thorough, but it is not exhaustive. Therefore, other duties and responsibilities will be assigned from time to time. Additionally, it will be required, at times, to work outside normal working hours and / or outside the organization’s facilities depending on the schedule of workshops, activities and events.
