Event: Join Us for Hope Rocks at Chalk the Block

The Downtown Courtenay BIA is hosting its first Chalk the Block Street Fair on Saturday, August 14, and the IWC’s Welcoming Communities Coalition will be there!

Join us at our table by the Comox Valley Art Gallery (580 Duncan Ave.) to participate in our Hope Rocks project. We are celebrating the linguistic diversity of our community by encouraging everyone to paint the word “hope” in a language of their choosing on a rock.

We already have more than 70 rocks that were painted in multiple languages by Campbell River residents at the Campbell River Art Gallery – now it’s Courtenay’s turn!

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Duncan Avenue at 5th Street will be closed to car traffic so the community can decorate the sidewalk with chalk, participate in art activities put on by the Comox Valley Art Gallery and CV Arts, paint our rocks with hope, and enjoy take-out in the picnic area. Local shops in the area will also join in with special sales.

We hope to see you on August 14th!
