September 9th to 18th is Welcoming Week!

Did you know that September 9th to 18th is Welcoming Week? This is an annual opportunity to recognize and celebrate the people, places, and values that help everyone feel welcome and that they belong in their local community, no matter where they come from.

During this week, we’ll share stories about how newcomers felt welcome in our communities, and tips on how to keep up the good work of welcoming newcomers. Check our Facebook page @ImmigrantWelcomeCentreNorthVancouverIsland to read about what made immigrants in our communities feel welcome when they settled here! You can hear more experiences from newcomers in our communities on our Immigrant Voices page.

We also invite you to share your stories in the comments and to get inspired by our tips on how to make newcomers welcome.

Say hi and ask how you can help – don’t be a stranger! Each and one of us has the power to welcome others in our communities.
